Pecos River

Last November (2000), we did 61 miles of the Pecos from Pandale down to Amisted. Beautiful, remote stretch of river where you can get away from it all. No one is here (probably because it's remote and hot). Beautiful night skies. No raging river, just a chance to find your place in the universe. I just didn't enjoy the headwind soloing down the wagon wheel area. It was running at 150 cfs, and I wouldn't want to do it with less water although Jack does it every year no matter what -- and he wrote the book on it. We did find many native sites along the way, unfortunately some have been mangled, but most were undisturbed.
