Pure-FTP is an FTP daemon (and client) for Unix. Since WU-FTP is no longer a supported program and it has known security holes, Pure-FTP is now a better choice.
Just install it. They have the latest RPMs right there.
It installs in /usr/local/sbin. Run pure-ftpd with the following options:
the configuration file is in /usr/local/etc.
where are those connection messages coming from, though. they're annoying.
