Personally, I don't agree with their need to make a person register because it only appears to enable them to do pop-up windows for advertisements -- aargh! There don't seem to be any other personalizations and I certainly haven't seen any "future services" -- probably because the may or may not be realized in the future. What bogus bullsh*t. They just wanted people to give them loads of information. But there's no legal requirement that it's accurate except for certain pieces.
But, here's their response to the letter I sent them (also included at the end of their response)....

you know. i went to your site today, like i have many times in the past. but when i went to content, you wanted me to register. why, i must ask. isn't this an extension of your airwave news delivery system which is anonymous like your website used to be? i wanted to look up some info that i only caught the tail-end of on the news. but i couldn't look it up without losing the anonymity I enjoy from using the TV. I used to think you guys were the best TV station in town from a news standpoint, but I'm now beginning to wonder and will need to re-evaluate. Why do you need to track my usage? I don't understand it. Remember, you competition was only one click away, *and* they didn't make me register with them. might need to start watching them on TV.
